What is after WEB 2.0

Many people used to believe that Internet would saturate /come to end after 9/11 . Even I was one of them. But with hard work it turned to web 2.0 with many new application like Wordpress (blogging), etc.
So, I wonder what we gonna have after Web 2.0. can you predict when web 2.0 will comes to an end.

Re: What is after WEB 2.0

I think there is no end for new innovations. The competition in the online world is on a rise. Many of the companies which are known to be the giants of their respective products market do have a web interface now.

Re: What is after WEB 2.0

i was in a discussion topic like this on another forum before, it will be all Artificial intelligence.

Someone mentioned that all databases will be connected in some way, so you will have access to a massive bank of knowledge

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_3

Quote:

Transforming the Web into a database

The first step towards a "Web 3.0" is the emergence of "The Data Web" as structured data records are published to the Web in reusable and remotely queryable formats, such as XML, RDF, Website Parse Template and microformats. The recent growth of SPARQL technology provides a standardized query language and API for searching across distributed RDF databases on the Web. The Data Web enables a new level of data integration and application interoperability, making data as openly accessible and linkable as Web pages. The Data Web is the first step on the path towards the full Semantic Web. In the Data Web phase, the focus is principally on making structured data available using RDF. The full Semantic Web stage will widen the scope such that both structured data and even what is traditionally thought of as unstructured or semi-structured content (such as Web pages, documents, etc.) will be widely available in RDF and OWL semantic formats. [5] Website parse templates will be used by Web 3.0 crawlers to get more precise information about web sites' structured content.

After Web 2.0 ? I guess Web 3.0 ;-)

Personally I hate version numbering the Internet. It is a process of steady development, not something that is introduced from one day to the other like a new piece of software.

Re: What is after WEB 2.0

i think that its going to go one of two ways - the first way - it becomes tiered - meaning the ISP's will charge you for the number of sites you visit, and will simply block access to other sites - eg you will pay for the top 10 websites and only get access to them, with bolt ons, like google search available

the second way is that it more or less stays as it is, being free to all. i hope that it stays free to all and that the knowlege contained within the network stays free to everyone to use, to the betterment of humanity.

I hope that this never will happen; it would be a hard hit for the Internet always standing for free data communication around the World.

Re: What is after WEB 2.0

I believe we will see the rise of real-time protocols rather than the stateless protocol found in Web 2.0. Ajax has been a move in this direction. It makes the web appear to be stateful (operating in real time).

I also think we will see more virtual environment like Second Life, but used for collaborative purposes rather than just entertainment.

Re: What is after WEB 2.0

@techno: I fully agree to your statement. The Internet is a form of communication, that can be improved by time, but not re-invented as a new release of a piece of software.
