Do I need huge budget to promote my site

I have entertainment related site which discusses bollywood celebrity news,gossip,etc. But, I am not able to expand my business due to limited traffic via google. I have not yet opted for paid services like SEO, High PR links but do you think, I can promote my site without such paid tools. I mean PPC should not be the only way to bring visitors.
If you know free methods then please list down.

Posting articles, posting on forums, posting on blogs. You could also SEO a little for yourself.

You have lot of competition probably. Take a keyword reserach tool like Wordtracker and try to get some key phrases out of your articles where is higher KEY (keyword efficency index). Then try to optimise your site using those in Titles, text and in links to your site. Maybe you will get more Search Engine traffic then. PPC will be very expensive.

But you dont need to pay for SEO, if your at the top of your SERP for your key term try topping it for another term and then another which will drive more and more traffic to your website.SEO is the best online advertising method as of yet IMO

I would like to see your website. Just curious.
The thing is that you can advertise your business for free.
For a gossip website you should definitely build a blog when you comment the news, and maybe a little forum for comments.

I agree with Kalink1, posting articles at places like ezinearticles.com will definitely bring lots of targeted traffic to your site. Make sure though your articles are good and they address a specific need.

Do not spam article sites just because you need traffic to your site. Sooner or later your visitors will loose trust in you and could destroy your credibility.

I've posted articles on ezinearticles.com and has been a good return on investment with regard to traffic to my site.

So my point is you do not need a big budget to promote your site.

You should hire good article submitter at low costs and thats enough and good way to bring traffic to your site

I would advise you to market your site using directory submission too. Its a good way to get traffic
