Hello

I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Omar Hussain [aged 16] from Middlesbrough. I am in the process of creating an online game along with my sister Nazia [aged 17] that is based around Islam and making peace with other religions.

Salaam City is a computer game designed to engage children and teenagers in an exciting role playing game

centred around the religion of Islam and the Muslim lifestyle, and promote positive Islamic values, attitudes

and role models. Additionally this game will also be useful to teach religious education (in a more fun and interactive way) to schools, religious teachers and such organisations as they wouldnt have to stress a lot by teaching children and teenagers the laws and facts of the different types of religions whereas if they were given an online game to play like mine, it will make teaching and learning about religion a lot more fun, stress free and exciting.

The creators of Salaam City - brother and sister teenagers Omar and Nazia
Hussain - are certain there is a need for positive messages about Islam, and
positive Islamic role models for young people - both Muslim and non-Muslim.
Salaam City is designed to deliver these; to clarify both misunderstandings
and misinterpretations of the Islamic religion; and to encourage young
Muslims to realize they can live in peace, live in harmony and enjoy the fruits
of a successful life while following the Muslim religion - without the need for
civil unrest, riots or wars. Also from this we are hoping to bring youngsters closer together in the community in a positive way.

Also it has the potential to enlighten non-Muslims about the true nature of one
of the worlds great religions: a religion that contrary to impressions in the
west, is one of peace and learning, and which is in harmony with Christianity
in far more ways than it disagrees.

We are working on this project with an organisation called Digital City. However even with their help we have failed to gather the necessary funds to get the game developed. So we are hoping that we can raise the 25k we are needing to create a part of the game/ working prototype. However if the sum we are asking for is is still to high then we will ask for a sum of 1-4k to create a supporting website for the game inwhich from this we will be able to give people a better insight of the game e.g screenshots and video of gameplay.

I hope we can get the funding from the local government from a similar group/department as this game as feel large institutions or organisations with a desire to associate themselves with the positive aspects of Islam could benefit - also large scale philanthropists. And further along the line, we believe that government agencies - such as the UK's initiative against violent extremism - could play a major supporting role and a part of this. Also organisations that work on diversity and community cohesion maybe interested and it may meet some of their education or awareness raising objectives and helps them generate profile and positive publicity.

However if you feel that this proposal of mine is not what your looking for, then could you please give me some details of another organisation that might be interested in what i am doing.

If you need any more information on our project then you can contact me via email or on 07866914874/ 01642 463035. or contact Charlotte Allen at Charlotte Allen(charlotte.allen@dcbusiness.eu)

thanks

Omar and Nazia
